Donald G Harding was born in Lunenburg Nova Scotia in 1955 and spent his early years traveling and seeing the world. This included travelling to Europe and the middle east unaccompanied at age 16, working on ferries between the US and Canada, working on a cruise ship in the Caribbean, working in New Zealand at different resorts and working in Alberta and British Columbia all primarily in the service industry. After obtaining a BA at Acadia and a law degree at Dalhousie Donald was admitted to the bar in British Columbia and then Nova Scotia. He practiced law in Shelburne first with his father, the late James M Harding QC and then formed the regional law firm of Pink MacDonald Harding with the late Irving Pink QC, Justice Gregory Warner, the late Ian MacDonald and Patricia Caldwell among others which firm lasted for 15 years until various appointments and retirements left Mr. Harding with his own busy practice in Shelburne county which has continued until 2022 when the new firm of Harding Law was formed.
Main areas of practice for Mr. Harding are Property, corporate commercial, fisheries marine law and wills and probate.
Donald Harding has served on numerous boards. commissions and committees locally, provincially, and nationally and served as President of the Nova Scotia and Canadian Lung Associations and was the longest serving chair of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission. Donald was a small claims court adjudicator, conducted a public enquiry and continues to serve on the Nova Scotia Assessment Appeal Tribunal. He is solicitor for various municipal units as well as numerous local and community organizations.
Donald Harding is married with a set of boy girl twins and enjoys an active life of various sports and educational interests including riding, tennis, reading, travelling and languages, especially Spanish.
